We look back with great satisfaction on the successful event Stress-Free Wtp, held on November 19 and organized by Deloitte, Colosseus, and Axini.
Daan van Eijck (Deloitte) opened the event at the well-attended Observant in Amersfoort. Wim Henk Steenpoorte then kicked things off by providing context and insights from a board-level perspective, sharing his experiences with previous major transitions in the sector. He emphasized the importance of taking careful and deliberate steps throughout the process.
Next, Simon Molenaar demonstrated how Stichting Pensioenfonds Campina, a closed self-administering pension fund, is managing changes related to Wtp and DORA. He also explained how, as a smaller organization, they keep their IT manageable and cost-effective.
Max Pieters and Erwin Broers then took the audience through the transition to fully automated model-based testing of the calculation engine for the new SPR administration at TKP Pensioen. Their key takeaway for the audience: the best path to success is teaching pension experts the new testing approach rather than trying to teach test specialists the intricacies of pensions.
In addition to caution and assurance, whether through innovative testing methods or otherwise, the importance of communication was highlighted at various points during the event. This was also a central theme in the lively panel and audience discussion led by David Versluis (Director of the Pension Funds Disputes Committee). Joining the discussion was Anne de Groot, Head of the Insurance & Pensions Department and Program Director for Pension Transition at the Dutch Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM).
Beyond ensuring participant engagement in the transition to the new system as a critical success factor, the event also emphasized the need for alignment within organizations—from actuaries to communication departments—and between different pension organizations to share insights and experiences.
Participants embraced this final point wholeheartedly, both in the discussions and during the subsequent networking reception. A commonly shared conclusion: while the Wtp transition will never be entirely stress-free, working together can significantly reduce stress levels.
