TKP Pensioen is using the new pension system as an opportunity for innovation in its IT landscape. With common testing methods, individual tests are mainly scripted by hand, with or without calculation models in, for example, Excel. TKP is taking a fundamentally different approach: automatic generation and execution of tests with the Axini Platform. TKP puts details of the pension plans into a model. From the model, Axini's software automatically creates test cases and test data, executes the tests, reports on deviations and on the completeness of the tests. Tests are fully synthetic (artificial), so issues such as with anonymizing production data are a thing of the past.
“As soon as we get a new release of Plexus - our new cloud-based pension administration system - we test it all the way through with the push of a button. This allows us to provide immediate feedback and know where we stand at any time,” said Max Pieters, Manager of Design at TKP.
Future adjustments, often an Achilles heel with large test collections, are much more manageable. A change in a pension plan is processed one-on-one in the corresponding part of the model. From then on, all tests are up to date and complete again.
With Axini, we have acquired a scalable solution that allows us to automatically test whether our clients' schemes have been processed correctly in our pension administration. This puts us demonstrably in control during the complex transition to the new pension system.
We often talk about shift-left: getting acceleration by getting your specifications and testing right earlier in the software development process. TKP shows very nicely how to take the lead in an ambitious program with an external supplier in this way.
