Astonished at how major defects were often discovered late in development, two close friends challenged the software industry to answer the questions: ‘Did we build the right thing?’ and ‘Did we build it right?’. Machiel van der Bijl and Menno Jonkers founded Axini to provide a solution to develop software in a fundamentally better way: software that works when it matters.
Axini supports organizations that build complex software products to deliver on time without concessions on quality. Better yet, because our testing platform generates smart test cases, including exceptional situations, issues are prevented entirely.
Since our founding in 2007, Axini has grown to an organization of twenty professionals with each their own expertise. The Axini team consist of ambitious people who continue to challenge and develop themselves, among others by organizing internal hackathon weeks.
The Axini platform is based on over 30 years of academic research. Axini is very grateful and reciprocates by collaborating with various research groups and providing guest lectures at universities. Additionally, we support ambitious master students by offering graduating positions that combine theory and practice.
Despite these theoretical roots, our goal is to have an impact in practice and we are actually improving the software development world fundamentally.
About the management team
Both Machiel and Menno started their career at Utopics after studying Computer Science at the University of Twente and VU Amsterdam respectively. Here they were active as consultants at government agencies as well as financial and high tech companies.
After his PhD in model based testing, Machiel wanted to close the gap between theory and practice by bringing 30 years of research to the industry.
Meanwhile, Menno left his executive position at Tryllian to become self-employed looking for more meaning in his work.
Ronald Wilts joined Axini in 2018 after a long career at Achmea. He enriches the management team with his business knowledge and experience as customer of Axini.
